It was formed by George and Wilma Massie, along with their two sons Perry and Tom. I am fortunate to have known them since the early days, and to have become a lifetime member of the organization over a quarter of a century ago. George and Wilma have since passed away, but their legacy continues strong today through Perry and Tom. The organization today has over 100 local chapters located in 34 states throughout our great nation. They produce the largest guide for gold, gem and treasure hunters that is available today. It is not for sale, but every Family Membership gets a copy. It is over 1” thick filled with maps and directions to over 250 claims in 24 states and Canada, including the Yukon Territory. Below you will see the number of local club chapters, and the number of claims that are listed for each state as of January 2008 in the GPAA CLAIMS CLUB MEMBERSHIP MINING GUIDE.
